Sermons on the Sabbath & Lord’s Day: Old and New Testament Evidence, and Seventh-Day Adventism Examined

I have had the privilege of preaching a series on the Sabbath and its relationship to the Lord’s Day.  Topics covered include the Sabbath as Israel’s sign of creation and redemption; the way the Sabbath points forward to redemptive rest in the Lord Jesus Christ; Seventh-Day Adventist, Lutheran, Puritan, and dispensational Baptist views of the Sabbath; the question of whether churches in the New Testament era need to meet for worship on the Sabbath or on the Lord’s Day; and a careful study of the heresies, not just on the Sabbath, but on the doctrines of Scripture, God, Trinitarianism, Christ, salvation, last things, and many other areas of Seventh-Day Adventism, as explained in “Bible Truths for Seventh-Day Adventist Friends.”

To listen to the sermons and/or watch the preaching, please:

and feel free to add a comment, “like” the videos, and/or subscribe to the KJB1611 YouTube channel if you have not already do so.

There is probably one more message on the Sabbath coming, so feel free to check back. You can’t end a series with six messages instead of seven anyway, can you?

  1. Thanks for this material. It might interest people to know that 7th Day Adventists outnumber Mormons across the world by several million.

  2. Yes, good point. Also, there is way, way more wrong with SDAs than just assembling on the wrong day of the week, and we can’t effectively tear down their spiritual strongholds if we don’t know what they are.

  3. Brother Ross,
I am grateful that you are doing this series of messages on the Sabath/Lord’ Day. I have been doing a good deal of reading and studying on this matter lately, and I am interested to see the conclusions that you have come to from your study of Scripture.

I plan on watching all of the messages as I have time, but there is one in particular that I am very interested in, which is the one where you deal with and compare and contrast the Dispensational Baptist view, with that of the Puritans. Could you let me know which specific message deals with that?

Also, will these messages be available in PDF format at some point? Thank you!

  4. Dear Jason,

Thanks for asking. I believe it is message #3. The titles should make it clear. I have one more message to post, so there will be seven total Lord willing, so feel free to check back and watch #7 when it goes up.

There is some written material on this at:

    faithsaves.net/seventh-day-sabbath/

    and at

    faithsaves.net/ecclesiology/.

The Lutherans think it does not matter what day you go to church, the Puritans think Sunday is the NT Sabbah, and the Biblical view is that the first day of the week matters because it is the Lord’s Day, but it is not the Sabbath, since the Sabbath is fulfilled in Christ.
